She fell in love when Sir Lancelot as soon as she saw her, which was when he came to join King Arthur as his knight. King Arthur gave the order for the queen to be burned at stake. This pitted Sir Gawain as well as King Arthur directly against Lancelot but before any fatal clash took place between the two sides, King Arthur was forced to rescue Queen Guinevere from Mordred. He killed Mordred but died of the wounds himself as well.
After King Arthur died in the war with Mordred, also having killed Mordred, Queen Guinevere felt repentant and believed herself guilty of all the war, strife and death that was caused by her affair with Sir Lancelot.
As a result, she became a hermit. Sir Lancelot requested her to kiss him one last time but she refused. Later, Sir Lancelot also retired to a hermitage, choosing to live a secluded life along with eight of his kin. Some accounts of the legend state that he later became a priest.
After becoming a hermit, Queen Guinevere had vowed that she would never let Sir Lancelot lay his eyes on her face during her life. So according to legend, after many years of hermitage, Queen Guinevere died. Sir Lancelot was guided by a dream to go to her but arrived half an hour later than her death, fulfilling her vow.
He overlooked the death rites for the Queen. Finally, the Queen was taken to the spot where King Arthur was buried, to be buried beside him. Prince Charming suggests they go to Lake Nostos and gather some of the lake's waters, which has healing powers.
When they reach there, they find the lake completely dry, except for a few droplets of water left. However, Ruth only pretends to drink the water, and as her dying wish, she asks to see her son and Snow White married. During the ceremony, Lancelot fills a cup with the lake water, stating that in Camelot there is a legend of a cup and it's believed whoever drinks from it will become immortal. Snow White drinks it, and after the marriage is complete, Ruth passes away.
Afterwards, Snow White discovers she is no longer barren and figures out Ruth must have given the water to Lancelot to put in the cup. After First Curse. Sometime after the first curse is cast, Cora begins glamouring herself as Lancelot, helping to manage a refugee camp for survivors that were not taken by the curse. Mulan becomes one of his allies at the haven, and Cora pretends to be held as a prisoner there because of her association with the caster of the curse.
When Mary Margaret and Emma end up stuck in the Enchanted Forest , Lancelot immediately recognizes Mary Margaret as his old friend Snow White and agrees to help them figure out a way home. With Mulan, and later Aurora , the women head to the old royal castle to look for the magic wardrobe. Lancelot appears before Mary Margaret and Emma, explaining that he followed them to ensure their safety and how they will get home. Mary Margaret senses something is amiss when Lancelot mentions Emma's son Henry since Cora is the only one in this world who knows about him.
When Mary Margaret calls her out for this, Cora emerges from the facade, claiming that Lancelot is dead and she had killed him long ago since the refugees would have never listened to her.
After a brief scuffle, Cora is forced to retreat. Mulan is aghast that she was tricked by Cora's disguise for so long, while Mary Margaret persuades her to tell the survivors that Lancelot died an honorable death. Before Third Curse.
With time running out, Lancelot is sent off to his mother, the Lady of the Lake , who might be able to help them, though the journey will take him two days to get there. Character Notes. He's a sword for hire who lost his true love and was banished from his kingdom. Biblical Lancelot's nickname, the Leviathan, is a reference to the biblical creature.
Fairytales and Folklore The nickname is also an allusion to the original legend , in which he was the adoptive son of the Lady of the Lake , a monster of the water. Costume Notes The concept for the motif on Lancelot's chest plate [4] is a menacing sea monster or a Leviathan. According to Azrael's Circus , who created the design for the chest plate, his inspiration for the design was "deep sea creatures, like angler and viper fish as well as mythological depictions of sea monsters, dragons and other ferocious beasts".
Lancelot's coat of arms is traditionally depicted as an argent silver shield with three bends a band running from the bearer's right side corner of the shield to the bearer's left side gules red. In Arthurian heraldry , Sir Bors' coat of arms is similar to Lancelot's, but is emblazoned with ermines [7] a pattern of black shapes representing the winter coat of a stoat.
